HANFORD – City of Hanford workers marched on Tuesday to City Hall to deliver a letter calling for the city not to discard a study just because some officials in Hanford may not agree with its findings.
The recently completed study of the city’s organization and staffing, conducted by Matrix Consulting Group, came at many taxpayers expense.
One “major recurring theme” reported in the study is: “The City has too many managers or staff with management titles for a municipality of its size or complexity.”
The letter, from city employees represented by SEIU Local 521, stated: “SEIU 521 Unit strongly urges you to examine the other areas recommended by Matrix Consulting for reducing costs… We are aware that the city is currently facing many tough issues, and we would like to be a part of the solution… We take great pride in our work and intend to uphold our promise to keep the City of Hanford beautiful and safe as we’ve always done.”
