Our Coalition and Our Actions Are Working!

Our state leaders are reaching out to our union following our street actions, eager to clarify they stand with working families. However, we demand actions, and nothing less!

We must continue speaking up and demand they publically support and vote in favor of tax measures that help relieve working families that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

Thanks to all the actions SEIU 521 members and our allies took part in over the past four months, California legislators have heard us and introduced new legislation that would tax the ultra-wealthy in order to fund critical services our communities rely on. There’s just one problem, our Senate and Assembly leaders are refusing to bring these bills to the floor for a vote, including Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula and State Senator Melissa Hurtado.

This is the last week for these bills to be voted. Time is running out as already some services we provide are being cut, and some of our co-workers are facing layoffs and furlough. The way out of this COVID-19 recovery crisis is investments in frontline services.

It’s time to bring our actions to our state leaders’ front door in Downtown Fresno. Join us in an escalating action to urge them to protect our jobs, to Commit to Equity, and Tax the Billionaires!

RSVP for the Fresno action TODAY!
