Community members to voice concerns about lack of jobs
SAN JOSE, Calif. – August is typically the time when members of Congress head back to their home districts to meet with constituents before the next session begins. Everywhere they go, they’re hearing hardship stories that would touch even the most seasoned politicians.
With state unemployment near 12 percent, thousands of families are struggling as never before. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) will hear directly from working men and women who have lost their jobs at a town hall on Monday.
“We see first hand the growing need for jobs in our community,” said Hermelinda Sapien, President and CEO for Center for Employment Training in San Jose, the site of the town hall. “Each day we rise to the challenge of providing skills training and support to people seeking employment. It’s critical our congressional leaders help to develop more jobs now.”
WHAT: Town hall on jobs with Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D – San Jose)
WHEN: Monday, Aug. 22, 6 – 7 p.m.
WHERE: Center for Employment Training (CET), 701 Vine St., San Jose
