Silicon Valley Stands in Solidarity with Orlando Community
Candlelight vigil today in San Jose at 5:30 p.m.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – In a demonstration that unions are a place where different people of all backgrounds can come to unite, members of Service Employees International Union Local 521 are holding a candlelight vigil today for the 49 men and women killed in Orlando last week.
The vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m. at SEIU 521’s San Jose union hall, 2302 Zanker Road, just before a pre-planned membership meeting convenes.
Participating in the vigil will be members from Santa Clara County’s LGBT community, leaders of faith, and members from the Muslim Community Association.
Contributions to the Equality Florida Donation Fund
Equality Florida is a partner of SEIU and has set up a donation fund. As of today, more than $4.8 million has been donated. We do not know the total costs for the victims of this horrific hate crime, therefore are working to raise as much as possible.
