Today the Supreme Court issued a 4-4 ruling in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, refusing to restrict the ability of working people to band together in a union.
The Supreme Court just sided against the wealthy special interests behind the Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association case. The Court rejected an attempt to restrict our right to join together in unions to improve our lives and our communities.
But this battle is not over. A handful of billionaires is bankrolling a conveyor belt of ballot measures, litigation, and legislation all aimed at stopping us from sticking together. These billionaire extremists just pushed through a law in West Virginia to make it harder for people to form strong unions and they have set their sights on pushing similar laws in Ohio and Kentucky.
Why? Because they know when we join together, we win. And they don’t want anyone to stand in the way of their extreme agenda to drive down wages and game the tax system, leaving the rest of us to pick up the tab for good schools, elder care and safe streets.
We know when we take action together, we are an unstoppable force for change. That’s why it’s so important for all of us to stand together.
