Tentative Agreement reached Monday night with Santa Clara County
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The County of Santa Clara and its In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) workforce have reached a tentative agreement that will strengthen the program by investing in additional training for providers as well as providing more community outreach to increase public awareness about long-term care.
Santa Clara County’s 17,000 home care workers are represented by Service Employees International Union, Local 521.
A protest scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Tuesday at 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose – where hundreds were expected – will be turned into a celebratory rally.
More details about the tentative agreement, which still needs to be voted on by the workers and approved by the Board of Supervisors, will be released Tuesday.
