San Benito County’s last offer triggers protests

Workers take to street demonstrations this week
HOLLISTER, Calif. – One week after rejecting San Benito County’s last, best, and final contract offer, workers are turning up the heat with a series of planned actions this week.
Workers voted unanimously to reject the county’s offer of devastating cuts on Oct. 8.
Now, workers will stage actions this Wednesday and Friday and call on the county to return to the bargaining table to reach a fair agreement. Weighing all their options, workers express strong concerns that a strike would devastate the community and urge a return to negotiations.
Details:

  • 12 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16: “BOO on the Board of Supervisors” rally, 4th and San Benito streets.
  • 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18: “Day of Mourning” for county services action, 4th and San Benito streets.
