Post-election, the 99% kick off campaign for a better future
Rich “Tax-Us” coalition joins the call for fairer taxes
SAN JOSE – The June primary is over but the work for the 99% continues. The state budget is still massively unbalanced; schools are still severely underfunded; and working families still pay a higher tax rate than General Electric.
On Wednesday, June 13, two days before the legislature is legally required to adopt a state budget, a coalition of people self-identifed as 99% will hold a rally for a better California.
What do the 99% want?
Affordable higher education; wages that don’t leave families near poverty; a sustainable and secure retirement for all workers; and a federal tax plan that is not riddled with Cayman Island loopholes.
Joining the 99% will be, John K. Stewart, founder of Tax-Us coalition (http://www.tax-us.info), which describes itself as “a band of citizens working to fairly change tax policy to ensure a balanced budget and stable economy.”
WHEN: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13
