FRESNO— The state labor board has expedited a hearing to consider SEIU Local 521’s complaint against Fresno County’s refusal to bargain fairly as required by law.
The California Public Employment Relations Board scheduled a hearing for March 12-13.  Hearings such as this commonly take six to seven months to schedule. In this case, PERB expedited the hearing.
The hearing both days will begin at 10 a.m., held at PERB’s office in Sacramento.
A settlement meeting with SEIU 521 union leaders Thursday resulted in Fresno County’s negotiators agreeing to ask the Board of Supervisors to come to mediation. If the county agrees to mediation, Local 521 could consider dropping the complaint before PERB’s hearing in March.
Attached is a copy of the PERB order scheduling the hearing, with the judge’s signature redacted.
