SEIU corrections officers stand firm for public safety


Feb. 5 - SEIU 521 members stood together when Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims threatened to lay off 69 officers in February, closing three floors of the jail and letting hundreds of inmates out.

The members convinced the Fresno County Board of Supervisors to find other ways to close the budget gap.

Franz Criego Wins Seat on Fresno County Retirement Board!


Our candidate for the Fresno County Employees Retirement Association, Franz Criego, soundly defeated nine other candidates to win a seat on the retirement board. With Criego's win, SEIU 521 members have effectively clinched the three elected positions on the board. The other two seats are currently held by SEIU members James Hackett and Eulalio "Larry" Gomez.
