Obama's Weekend Warriors!
We have 20 slots for members and staff to work for Obama in Nevada during the last weekend in October. The trip is sponsored by SEIU International.
Other SEIU Locals will be sending members also. A total of 100 SEIU members will participate that weekend.
As you know, Nevada is an important swing state in the upcoming presidential election. Since the onset of the financial crisis the independents in Nevada have been trending towards Obama. We want to seize the opportunity to turn Nevada in Obama's favor.
Not all logisitcs have been confirmed yet, but here is everything we know so far:
1. Members will be working in the Reno, NV area.
2. Date: Leave October 25th in the early morning; return October 26th in the evening.
3. Members will leave from our SEIU 521 office in San Jose (2302 Zanker rd.)
4. Members will stay overnight in Reno
5. Meals will be provided
6. Participants should meet the following criteria:
a.) able to walk continuously for 4 - 6 hours
b.) comfortable visititng voters at their homes to talk about the Obama presidential campaign
7. Members will be given prioriy for the 20 slots available to 521.
8. There may be more interest than slots allowed, no one is guaranteed a slot.
