Fresno Co. Correctional Officers Fight for Safety

Jan. 27, 2010 - The Fresno County Correctional Officers, members of SEIU 521, have stood united against the unnecessary and dangerous layoffs proposed by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims. On Tuesday, they got the Fresno County Board of Supervisors on their side.

The Supervisors pledged to work to find other ways to close the sheriff's budget gap. SEIU 521 has always been willing to negotiate to stop the layoffs, and now Mims will have to consider other cuts, rather than slashing vital services that affect the safety of our community.
